Cincinnati, Ohio. Contentra Inc., one of the most trusted and respected companies in the business of editorial and project support for K–12 education publishers, welcomes Laura Cunningham as our new Editorial Director of STEM.

With more than fifteen years of experience in science education, curriculum development, and editorial leadership, Cunningham brings to her work a deep passion for creating meaningful learning experiences. As a former science teacher, she has firsthand understanding of what educators and students need to thrive in today’s classrooms. Throughout her career, she has partnered with major educational publishers and edtech organizations to develop engaging, NGSS-aligned and custom science and STEM programs for K–12 learners across print, digital, and hybrid formats. Known for her warm, collaborative approach and dedication to client satisfaction, Cunningham focuses on guiding thoughtful editorial processes, fostering culturally responsive content, and supporting quality at every stage of development.

“Laura is quite adept at developing digital and print programs,” said Contentra CEO Bill Faber. “She’s passionate about creating content that engages students and that provides thoughtful, doable activities to help teachers meet the learning needs of all their students. We are grateful for the skills and experience Laura brings to our team.”

“Great learning begins with curiosity, clarity, and connection,” Cunningham says. “As a former educator, I view every project through the lens of what teachers and students need most. My goal is to build strong relationships, support inclusive content, and help our teams deliver instructional materials that truly resonate with today’s learners. I am excited to collaborate with partners who share our commitment to innovation, responsiveness, and meaningful outcomes for all students.”

Before joining Contentra, Cunningham developed and led science and STEM curriculum initiatives for leading educational publishers and edtech organizations. Her experience includes overseeing editorial teams, shaping NGSS-aligned program architecture, developing custom content, and managing complex development pipelines across diverse formats. These roles have honed her ability to connect vision with execution and deliver engaging, instructionally sound materials that support meaningful learning for all students.

In her new role, Cunningham will guide Contentra’s STEM editorial strategy, build authentic client partnerships, and lead the development of high-quality programs that reflect the needs of educators, students, and modern learning environments.
