Vice President - Business Development

Position based: Remote, USA

Reports to: CEO

Position overview

We are seeking a top-performing Vice President-Business Development to join our highly experienced team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for both new business and existing accounts, forecast performance, development and nurturing of customer relationships, and the leadership for major strategic education market K–12 accounts.

Roles and responsibilities

You will be responsible for maximizing Contentra’s market share by prospecting and developing trusting relationships with potential buyers of Contentra’s products and services and by managing the entire sales cycle. 

Your role

  • Research, develop, and execute the strategy to secure new sales in the PreK–12 marketplace  

  • Proactively prospect new accounts and generate leads through networking, targeted outreach, and market research

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all client-related communication

  • Maintain and cultivate client relationships

  • Follow up on and assist as needed with each RFP, RFQ, and RFI to ensure all opportunities for new sales are developed and maximized

  • Forecast and maintain key account sales data

  • Travel as needed to meet with clients and attend conferences when required

  • Ensure all clients are fully satisfied with Contentra products and services 

Interaction

  • Interacts with potential clients and vendors

  • Liaises with the Sales and Marketing, Operations, and New Business Development Departments; keeps senior management informed on the progress of each ongoing sales cycle and other sales metrics as required

Communication

  • Proactively interact with clients and operations regarding ongoing projects

  • Communicate with management on the progress of each ongoing sales cycle and other sales metrics as required

Required skills and qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of the PreK–12 educational publishing market      

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and Mac computers

  • Self-motivated

  • Able to build and maintain positive relationships with clients and manage conflicts effectively

  • Team-oriented with a sense of customer service

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Expert at spotting an opportunity and taking it all the way from researching, planning, and developing to a completed sale

  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced and result-oriented environment

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, marketing, or related field

  • Experience in customer-facing roles like sales or customer service

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs and Mac computers
