Contentra Inc. Welcomes Carri Walters as
Editorial Director of Instructional Design

February 10, 2024
Cincinnati, Ohio. Contentra Inc., one of the most trusted and respected companies in the business of editorial and project support for K–12 education publishers, welcomes Carri Walters as our new Editorial Director of Instructional Design.
With over 30 years of experience in education overall—and 17 years in curriculum development and publishing support—Walters brings an expert toolkit of know-how, flexibility, and creativity to the making of educational materials. Walters sees every situation through the lenses of curriculum and instruction, asking, “What needs to be learned here, and what’s the best way to teach it?”
“I approach everything I do as a teacher,” Walters says, “and I’m naturally wired to edit. By that I mean to spot what needs improvement and determine the most elegant way to fix it. So, I’m a confident editor of both content and processes. In my time developing content to support educational publishers, I’ve also scrutinized a lot of standards, objectives, guidelines, and workflows. One of the things I have gotten very good at is parsing what clients ask for and then providing clear guidance to project contributors so they can successfully meet expectations. It’s really the same thing teachers strive to do with their students—effectively communicating criteria from the start and coaching for continuous improvement.”
“Carri’s extensive experience creating NGSS-aligned, phenomenon-driven, three-dimensional instruction makes her an invaluable leader for science content development,” said Bill Faber, CEO of Contentra Inc. “But also, her confident knowledge of instructional strategies and design and her agility make her an ace development partner across content areas. She is a highly versatile addition to our team.”
Before joining Contentra, Walters held editorial roles at Mazer and Element LLC, advancing through directorial roles at MPS and Six Red Marbles.
In her new role, Walters will lead the company’s science and career technical education projects while helping grow capacity for content development in edpub and edtech projects of all types.
