Position Summary
Contentra Technologies is looking for a top-performing Business Development Manager to develop and drive a high volume of its K-12 educational solutions services to the educational publishing industry. Contentra has the proven expertise to provide a full array of publishing services, from conception and creation of an innovative new product to the speedy completion of a full basal program. Roles and Responsibilities
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for maximizing Contentra’s market share through prospecting and developing trusted relationships with potential buyers of Contentra’s products and services, as well as managing the entire sales cycle.
Essential Functions and Results

Research all large potential buyers of Contentra’s products and services to locate opportunities and identify decision makers. Generate new business opportunities and follow up on all such leads and opportunities detected.

Introduce potential clients to Contentra’s products and services. Use personal expertise to show potential customers that Contentra is the best possible choice to make their initiatives wildly successful.

Manage the sales life cycle, from first contact through enlightening the potential client on the solution or product and its benefits, to client’s purchase and receipt of full payment.

Follow up on and assist as needed with each RFP, RFQ, and RFI to ensure all opportunities for new sales are developed and maximized.

Travel to meet with potential clients as needed, attending conferences, conventions, trade shows, and other venues to make contacts and facilitate sales.

Ensure new clients are fully satisfied with Contentra products and services.

Interacts with potential clients and vendors

Liaises with the Sales and Marketing, Operations, and New Business Development Departments; keeps senior management informed on the progress of each ongoing sales cycle and other sales metrics as required
Qualifications
Required

Excellent communication skills with a proven background in identifying and creating new business relationships; a proven ability to proactively source business and generate meetings with key decision makers and influencers

A sizeable list of your own educational publishing industry contacts

Expertise at spotting an opportunity and taking it all the way from research, planning, and developing through to a completed sale

Success in constantly looking at innovative and creative methods to open doors and generate meaningful and qualified conversations across a wide range of potential business partners

Extensive experience in new business development using a consultative sales approach; a salesperson with an entrepreneurial nature

Ability to present as a credible educational publishing industry expert regarding trends and methods

Ability to listen and correctly analyze and interpret your prospects’ business needs and how Contentra can provide the best solutions

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment

Ability to travel up to 25 percent of the time

Bachelor’s degree in business, English, communication studies, journalism, or education (Impressive field work in education, business, and/or sales and marketing may be substituted for such a degree.)

Familiarity with state and district-level bidding, government grants, and funding processes and opportunities

Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and Mac computers
